Police Supervisory In-Service Training (POSIT)

Course Description

This four and a half day course is designed for the first-line police supervisor and those who are under consideration for promotion. The 4.5 day program focuses on the most difficult aspect of supervision--how to motivate and guide the behavior of others. POSIT is designed to furnish the tools necessary to perform confidently as a supervisor in the demanding world of modern law enforcement.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Be prepared for future administrative responsibilities
  2. Know how to define and modify ones supervisory roles as ones organizations respond to societal change
  3. Be better able to fulfill ones potential as a supervisor
  4. Have gained knowledge from the experience of, a lessons learned by, other officers
  5. Be able to further develop ones supervisory skills and conduct self-analysis to identify weakness
  6. Be able to turn theory into practice
  7. Be able to use a team approach to problem solving
  8. Perform better as members of ones management teams
