4:20 Interdiction (Commercial Vehicle)

Course Description

This course will provide students with the skills necessary to conduct successful commercial vehicle interdiction. It will equip students with the ability to make a rapid assessment on whether criminal activity is taking place. This rapid assessment can be enhanced by becoming familiar with current criminal trends and understanding how to use this information to confirm or deny one's suspicion. The skills learned during this course are taught, not only through the classroom, but through hands-on training and searching of commercial motor vehicles. Students are taught how to locate hidden compartments and electronic traps on these vehicles, as well as learning the vehicle's natural voids.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate how to successfully locate a hidden compartment or electronic trap. Students will also be able to easily identify commercial trucks natural voids. They will be able to demonstrate the use of proper interview techniques on roadside encounters and be able to recognize both physical and behavioral indicators of deception. A student shall be able to observe and recognize indicators associated with criminal activity.

  2. The knowledge on how contraband enters the United States and how it is transported to destination points.
  3. Indicators of criminal activity displayed on commercial vehicles.
  4. How to search commercial vehicles, through hands-on searching exercises.
  5. The ability to successfully complete a roadside interview.
  6. The ability to locate and enter concealed compartments.
  7. The knowledge gained through examining prior roadside traffic stops that led to successful interdiction.
  8. How to read and understand required documentation for commercial motor vehicles.
  9. The rental vehicles industry
  10. The motor coach bus industry
